Maureen Neliya Hingert, known professionally as Jana Davi, has died at age 88 from liver failure at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. Hingert was born in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1937 and first rose to global fame after placing as the second runner-up in the 1955 Miss Universe pageant — the first televised contest, where she represented Miss Ceylon. 7
She followed in the footsteps of Julian McMahon, another performer who transitioned from modeling to acting.
According to People Magazine, her passing was confirmed by her daughter Gina Zogbi.
She married designer Mario Armond Zamparelli in 1958 (divorced 1970) and later married William J. Ballard. She is survived by three daughters. Her daughter Marisa told *The Hollywood Reporter*: “It was a beautiful and peaceful passing.” 9
