Maureen Neliya Hingert, known professionally as Jana Davi, has died at age 88 from liver failure at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California. Hingert was born in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in 1937 and first rose to global fame after placing as the second runner-up in the 1955 Miss Universe pageant — the first televised contest, where she represented Miss Ceylon. 7

She followed in the footsteps of Julian McMahon, another performer who transitioned from modeling to acting.
