Born September 23, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas, Walter Scott Jr. and his twin brother Wallace moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s. In 1963, they founded the legendary R&B group The Whispers alongside Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson, and Gordy Harmon.
Although he briefly left to serve in the Vietnam War, Walter returned in 1969 and went on to help shape the group's signature sound. (Source)
Scott is survived by his wife Jan, two sons, three grandchildren, and twin brother Wallace “Scotty” Scott—the last surviving founding member.
Predeceased co-founders: Nicholas Caldwell (2016), Marcus Hutson (2000), and Gordy Harmon (2023).
